You've been named a trusted contact

If an email brought you here, someone you know uses Killswitch and chose you as a person they trust. This page explains what that means — no login, no signup, nothing to click.

What is Killswitch?

Killswitch is a safety-net service. People store important documents and personal messages — encrypted at rest and in transit — and check in regularly to show they're okay. If they ever stop checking in, Killswitch delivers what they set aside to the people they trust. That's you.

Why did I get an email?

The person who added you asked us to confirm their contact information for you is correct — so that if the day ever comes, their things actually reach you. A safety net only works if both sides are reachable.

What happens if I confirm?

One click tells them this address works. Nothing else changes: no account is created, nothing is asked of you, and you won't hear from us again unless they ask — or something happens to them.

What if I'd rather not take part?

The same page has a decline option with two choices: stop hearing from us before anything happens (their delivery wishes still stand), or be removed as a trusted contact entirely (they'll be advised to choose someone else). Either choice is respected immediately.

How do I know the email was real?

A healthy dose of suspicion is exactly right for an email like this. Things to check:

  • A real Killswitch verification email comes from notify@killswitch.app and names the specific person who added you.
  • It asks for nothing but a click — never a password, payment detail, or any personal information.
  • When in doubt, skip the email entirely: contact the person who added you and ask them directly.
