Storage, Billing & Connector Sessions
What Settings > Storage, Billing, and Connector Sessions show you, how plan quotas work, and exactly what's required to let Claude read and work with your content.
Storage
Settings > Storage shows a live total against your plan's quota, plus a breakdown by item type: documents, notes, notebooks (plus any notebook media), and video/audio messages where enabled. All of it counts against the same quota — there's no separate allowance per content type.
Once you've used more than 80% of your quota, Settings shows a warning so you can clean up or upgrade before you hit the limit. Every plan also caps individual file size at 200 MB, regardless of how much quota you have left.
| Plan | Storage Quota | Max File Size |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | 5 GB | 200 MB |
| Pro | 50 GB | 200 MB |
| Legacy | 100 GB | 200 MB |
Running low? Click View Plans from Settings > Storage (or from the warning banner) to upgrade — the same plans page used for billing changes.
Billing
Settings > Billing shows your current plan, its status (trial, active, past due, or cancelled), your next billing or trial-end date, plan features, and the same storage and deadman switch usage shown on the Storage tab.
Plans
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly | Deadman Switches | Beneficiaries / Switch |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $7.99 | $79/yr | 3 | 1 |
| Pro | $19.99 | $199/yr | 10 | 5 |
| Legacy | $39.99 | $399/yr | Unlimited | Unlimited |
Yearly billing can also be locked in for 2 or 3 years at checkout, for 10% and 15% savings over the base yearly rate respectively.
Trial & guarantees
Every plan starts with the same trial terms:
30 days free · No charge until day 31 · Cancel anytime
A payment card is required to start the trial — you're not charged until day 31, and you can cancel before then with no charge at all.
The 30-day free trial is your risk-free window — a full month to try everything before the first charge. After the trial, monthly plans simply cancel at the end of the current billing period, and annual plans run through their term.
Separately, once a deadman switch is configured with items and beneficiaries, it fires on schedule regardless of your subscription status — Killswitch's always-fires guarantee.
Managing payment & invoices
Once you have an active or past subscription, Settings > Billing shows an Open Billing Portal button. It hands you off to Stripe's hosted billing portal to update your card, download invoices, switch between monthly and yearly billing, or cancel — all outside of Killswitch, on Stripe's own secure page.
If you've never subscribed (no billing account yet), that button isn't shown — subscribe to a plan first to set up billing.
If you cancel
Cancelling doesn't delete anything. At the end of your current billing period (or trial), your account switches to read-only: you can still log in, view and download everything you've stored, and check in to your existing deadman switches by email or SMS reminder link. You just can't upload new files or create or edit switches until you resubscribe.
If you have an active switch with items and beneficiaries attached, your account is retained regardless of billing status so that switch can still fire on schedule — see Deadman Switches for how firing and grace periods work. Account deletion is a separate, deliberate action covered in Passwords & Account Recovery — cancelling your subscription never triggers it on its own.
Connector Sessions
Settings > Connector Sessions is where you connect Claude Desktop or claude.ai to your account and control when Claude can read and work with your content. For the full walkthrough of connecting and what Claude can say and do, see Using Killswitch with Claude . This section covers what's specifically here in Settings.
Connecting Claude Desktop
- In Claude Desktop, go to Settings > Connectors > Add custom connector and paste the connector URL shown on this tab.
- Claude opens your browser to sign in and approve the scopes it's requesting.
- Come back to this tab and click "Unlock for Claude" whenever you want Claude to have access.
Unlock for Claude
Connecting the app is not the same as granting access. Clicking "Unlock for Claude" starts a time-boxed session — choose 1 hour or 4 hours — during which Claude can read and author your content. The session expires automatically, and you can end it early at any time with Revoke on the sessions list below the unlock control, which cuts off access immediately.
Every connector action requires an active session. Killswitch gates every tool Claude can call — reading or drafting notes and documents, listing or proposing deadman switches, and listing beneficiaries — behind an active, unlocked connector session. There's no category of action, including beneficiaries or deadman switches, that Claude can reach without one. Without an active session, Claude cannot read or change anything on your account.
Even during an active session, Claude cannot fire, pause, resume, or delete a deadman switch, and it cannot check you in — those actions always require you, directly in the app or through a signed check-in link. Claude can only list your sessions and propose changes for you to confirm.
Frequently asked
Do I need a credit card to start the trial?
Yes. A card is required to start your 30-day trial, but you won't be charged until day 31, and you can cancel any time before then with no charge.
Is there a money-back guarantee?
The 30-day free trial is the try-before-you-pay window — cancel any time before it ends and you're never charged. After the trial, monthly plans cancel at the end of the current billing period.
Can Claude access my beneficiaries or deadman switches without me unlocking a session?
No. Every connector action, including reading or proposing changes to beneficiaries and deadman switches, requires an active "Unlock for Claude" session. Without one, Claude has no access to anything on your account.
What happens to my files if I cancel my subscription?
Nothing is deleted. Your account becomes read-only — you can still log in, view, and download everything, and your existing deadman switches keep working — but you can't upload new files or edit switches until you resubscribe.
